🛍️Landmark

Königsallee ('Kö')

One of Germany's most famous and elegant shopping boulevards — a tree-lined canal flanked by luxury brand boutiques, department stores, and upscale cafés. Worth a stroll even if shopping isn't the goal, simply for the atmosphere.

🍺Nightlife

Altstadt — The Longest Bar in the World

Düsseldorf's Altstadt claims to have the highest concentration of bars per square kilometer in Germany — locals call it the 'longest bar in the world.' It's lively, social, and rowdy in the best way on weekends. Altbier (the local dark, top-fermented beer) is the drink of choice here — different from Cologne's Kölsch and a point of fierce local pride.

🏗️Architecture

Medienhafen (Media Harbor)

A former industrial harbor redeveloped as a creative and media district, with striking contemporary architecture. The Neuer Zollhof complex by Frank Gehry — three twisting, gleaming buildings on the waterfront — is the main draw. A nice 30-minute walk from the Altstadt.

🎨Museum

K20 & K21 Art Museums

The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen splits across two locations: K20 focuses on classic modern art (Picasso, Klee, Mondrian) and K21 on contemporary work. Both are excellent and manageable in an afternoon each.
